Gospel music finds itself in transition. As a musical form, it is currently receiving unprecedented financial, critical and popular support. Can contemporary artists reconcile popular appeal and creative musical production with the unadulterated gospel? Enter Troy McIntosh and Joshua Jeneration. Troy and Joshua blend gospel purity, lyrical depth and funky, artistic delivery in a music ministry designed to influence believers and non-believers alike. Winner of the 2001 Seminar in the Rockies and Academy of Gospel Music Arts Urban Gospel Song of 2001, Troy is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He began writing, arranging and recording while in college. He states, “I want to write music where Christ and His Truth are the center of attention. There is no other person or topic as interesting, important or compelling as Jesus the Christ, His crucifixion, resurrection and deity.”
In 1993, Troy founded Joshua as a “Christ-centered” music ministry. According to Troy, Joshua is "Christocentric in the sense that we hold fast to the historic, biblical foundations of our faith. At the same time we try to say things in a musical and ministry package that is creative and unique.” The goal of the ministry is to glorify Christ in all aspects of worship. “The focus of this ministry is not recording an album or selling a lot of copies. The focus is honoring Christ and pointing people to Him alone.” A gifted bible teacher and music instructor, Troy currently serves as the Elder of Worship at South Shore Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame and a Master's in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago. Troy and his wife Patricia currently reside in suburban Chicago. Joshua Jeneration is Leslie Bailey, Melody Betts, Lisa Cooper, Michelle Holt, Tania Sherrod, Eric Thomas, Latrice Thomas, and Shawndia Williams. |
